Heart the Mountain Keeps
The Grasso Diary
By Scott Blaise
Her father’s words are the beginning. The truth is still waiting.
Connor’s journal opens the story of his love for Kaylie and the choices that bring them into Darcell Neveaux’s orbit. For Addison, his words offer a first connection to the parents she scarcely remembers—and raise questions about the childhood and family history she has been given.
A story of first love, loss and the secrets that shape a family, The Grasso Diary begins Addison’s search for the people she has never been allowed to know.
Updated edition with expanded scenes, refreshed front matter and author biography.

Prologue
Anna had promised to tell Addison Grasso everything when she came home at noon. It was 12:02, and the woman she called her aunt was late.
Addie sat deep in the worn cushions of the old couch, her knees pulled toward her chest, staring at the clock mounted above the television as though watching it closely enough might somehow force its hands backward.
Outside, patches of sunlight wandered across the Canadian countryside, appearing and disappearing behind slow-moving clouds. One moment the room filled with pale afternoon light. The next, shadows crept quietly across the floorboards.
Half of her wanted Anna to walk through the front door immediately. The other half hoped she never came home.
Today was the day. At least, that was what Anna had promised.
